San Diego

San Diego is a great city to visit, with a beautiful waterfront, parks, and winter temperatures averaging in the high 60's and 70's.
This was the view from the rear window of our RV at a park on Mission Bay.

Balboa Park is a treasure - built by the city to host a World's Fair to
celebrate the opening of the Panama Canal. The architecture has
been restored to many of the buildings, and there are museums, theaters, and restaurants within the park. We attended a concert at this outdoor pipe organ stage. The instrument is one of the largest in the world.

Cabrillo National Monument is on Point Lomas, across San Diego Bay
from the city. The Pacific Fleet makes a home here, as well as on Coronado Island.

This is typical of the Pacific shoreline, north of the city.

And the zoo - the San Diego Zoo is adjacent to Balboa Park and can be an all day excursion. The animals are generally outside in familiar habitats, and the landscaping is lush and spectacular.
